No one is new to cybercrime otherwise known as “yahoo yahoo.”
Recently, it’s been discovered that there are even different categories of it– there’s the normal one (yahoo yahoo), there’s a pro version (yahoo plus) which is very rampant amongst the Gen-Zs where they have to even go into using charms and drugs.
Now, the question is “why has cybercrime escalated this much in this generation?”
Is it laziness, peer pressure, moral decadence, or poverty?
Is it the fact that most Gen-z ladies now only want to date a rich guy without caring how he got his money?
Infact, some of these stubborn and hardhearted youths claim that the money they get through cybercrime is for their forefathers/ancestors.
But how is that even possible?
Is it because Britain was the country that gave Nigeria independence?
But we all know that these criminals don’t only dupe the British, even if their claim is a very dumb one.
Their forefathers’ money, yen yen yen, no proof or legal grounds to show for it. Such lame thinking! When such persons are caught, they go explain tire.
Anyways, let’s look into the causes, explore the consequences, and brainstorm some solutions to curb cybercrime and secure our country’s name and image. 🚀

Anything you see anyone doing was motivated by either someone or something they have seen or heard.
Nobody just does anything without a cause.
One thing with this tech-savvy generation and their unprecedented access to the digital realm is that they utilize it badly.
You see, Technology is a blessing but could also be a curse because every good thing in this life has its own bad side.
Here are some factors which can influence youths into cybercrime:
1. Social Factors-The Rat Race:
The uncontrollable urge to get rich quickly among youths regardless of the route is quite alarming. Coupled with the excessive urge to impress their peers or the opposite sex, young minds are being pressured into the intricate world of cybercrime. Peer pressure is another social factor that contributes greatly to cybercrime. The fact that their friends are doing it and nothing has gone wrong, gives them the motivation to go ahead too.
2. Economic Factors:
The Economic recession pulls strings that lead many down the cybercrime rabbit hole. Unemployment, economic disparities, overpopulation and poverty create fertile ground for the germination of illicit digital activities.
3. Lack of Cyber Education:
In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, education is the bedrock of defense and enlightenment. Unfortunately, the lack of comprehensive cybersecurity education leaves many youths vulnerable to the siren call of cybercrime. Since no one is giving them the right education on how to use the media, they’re choosing the option that is being thrown at them.

That’s probably why they added charms to it for security, not knowing such things don’t last.

One major consequence of Cybercrime is that youths who are involved lack peace of mind.Despite the charm they use, they are still not safe and free because they are not clean.Because they’re involved in a dirty job, they are not at peace.They live in the fear of not being caught or not breaking a rule. Though they get the money which might not last, their lives lack tranquility.
2. Financial Fallout For Victims:
The individuals involved and financial institutions involved experience the ripple effects of cybercrime. Phishing attacks, ransomware, and identity theft leave financial scars that take time to heal.
