NDLEA has announced the arrest of Lagos Socialite, KC Luxury and the dismantling of his international drug cartel following the seizure of 184.50 kg of cocaine valued at approximately ₦39 billion ($23 million).
The agency’s Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), briefed journalists in Lagos on the operation, which culminated in the arrest of the cartel’s Nigerian coordinator as he attempted to board an international flight out of the country.
How the Multi-Billion Naira Operation Unfolded
- Initial Courier Interception: NDLEA operatives intercepted a massive 184.50 kg cocaine consignment concealed inside a logistics firm in Lagos bound for international export.
- Special Investigation Team: A dedicated task force tracked the supply chain from local freight intermediaries to its primary financial masterminds.
- High-Profile Airport Arrest: The key suspect, Afolabi Kazeem Michael (popularly known as “KC Luxury”), was apprehended at the boarding gate of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to escape on a business-class flight to Paris.
- Asset & Cash Seizures: Operatives recovered foreign currencies (€7,750, £2,800, and ₦100,000) alongside luxury items. Subsequent searches at his Banana Island residence led to the seizure of exotic vehicles and high-value jewelry.
Modus Operandi: South America to Global Markets
Investigators revealed that the criminal network operated a drug trafficking pipeline stretching from South America through Nigeria as a transit hub to destinations across the UK, Europe, and Asia.
To mask the illicit flows, the primary suspect operated publicly as a social media influencer and luxury goods dealer while deploying false identities and financial facilitators to move billions of naira in drug proceeds. Parallel enforcement actions conducted alongside UK law enforcement partners have led to synchronized arrests in both jurisdictions.
